Pamela’s practice is located in the Sierra Foothills just east of Sonora. Her practice is specially designed to meet the needs of her patients.
The basic premise of health care in her office is to work with the whole person, physically, spiritually and mentally. Chinese medicine offers a complete medical system that diagnosis, treats and prevents illness. It works very complementary with Western allopathic medicine.
During the initial visit the patient’s health is assessed by reading the pulses of each wrist and observing the color and form of the face, tongue and body. This information is interpreted in the context of a patient’s present and past complaints, work and living habits, physical environment, family health history and emotional life. A complete medical history is taken, along with blood pressure and general exam. From these and other assessments, a diagnosis and treatment plan is created. You will be in the office for 2 hours on your first visit. One hour is usual for followup visits.
The goal of treatment is to adjust and harmonize Yin and Yang-wet and dry, cold and heat, inner and outer, mind and body. This is achieved by regulating the Qi, moisture, and blood in the organ networks. Weak organs are tonified, congestions are opened, excess is dispersed, tightness is softened, agitation is calmed, heat is cooled, cold is warmed, dryness is moistened and dampness is drained.
Treatment may incorporate acupuncture, herbal remedies, diet, exercise and massage. Acupuncture response varies. Some need only a few sessions while others need sustained care to reverse entrenched patterns that have occurred over time. As symptoms improve fewer visits are required, individual progress is the yardstick.
Pam and her staff work to provide you with quality and expert care in a respectful and supportive environment. We are committed to your care and look forward to assisting you through the evaluation and treatment process. We urge you to take an active role in your treatment, to ask questions and to voice any concerns you have.
The review of medical records and supplements (herbs and vitamins) you are currently taking are part of your evaluation, so any labs or other medical testing you have had done which relate to your chief complaint would be good to bring in.
Pamela is a primary care provider. Since work and sports injuries is a specialty of acupuncture, treatment for pain is a large part of the practice. She also specializing in women’s and men’s health. Children are welcome to the practice.
